2021 Annual Meeting ~ Call for Submissions
The theme for this year’s ADSA Annual Meeting is the “Transfer Power of Data Science.”
Data and data workflows have the power to support new discoveries across many different fields of inquiry. And while crossover to other disciplines is itself powerful, we encourage you to interpret the "transfer power" of data science from many different perspectives:
Have you modified code and workflows from a very different domain to advance research in your field? What methods, tools, and best practices do you employ to maximize transferability of your work to other contexts or in other domains? Has your work shifted power from those traditionally in power to those who have been marginalized by data-driven products? Does your work increase power equity with collaborative participation in data science across traditional hierarchies or from the wider community (citizen science, community engagement)?
TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH THE TRANSFER POWER OF DATA SCIENCE!
‼️ DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: JUNE 28TH
✅ NOTIFICATION BY: AUGUST 2ND
ADSA is committed to increasing diversity in data science. We hope to see speakers and participants at our events who represent different domain backgrounds, career stages, lived experiences, and demographics. We want to especially encourage submissions from under-served and marginalized groups in data science. Please let us know (via the Contact link at the bottom of every page) if you have any questions about the submission process or fees for attending. We will have need-based support for travel and registration.
BONUS: Registration fees will be waived for the designated speaker or session chair of accepted proposals!
ADSA IS LOOKING FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF PRESENTATION:
- Breakout/Birds-of-a-Feather/Panel (1.5h) - Structured discussion focused around a single topic. May include brief presentations (as with a panel). Session proposer will be responsible for framing the topic with a short presentation and initiating discussion. Please list panelists and speakers in the "Key Elements" section of the form.
- Demo/Tutorial/Performance Art (40min) - Presentation or interactive session introducing a tool/method/etc. or data-inspired performance. These sessions will be paired to fill a single 1.5 hour time slot.
- Research Talk, in-person or virtual (20 min) - Presentation of recent data science research. Research Talks will be grouped by topic area into 1.5 hour blocks with time for Q&A.
- Poster - Posters will be presented on Wednesday, November 10 - the joint meeting day with the Data Science Leadership Summit.
Please Note: All Research Talks will be live-streamed and recorded. Please do not submit a proposal for a talk if you are uncomfortable sharing your work with our virtual audience.
